Illinois winner will receive an all-expense-paid trip to the International Competition, which will be held June 4-7 at the BIO Convention in Boston, MA!<\/p>\n<p>Three New Challenge Tracks give students more opportunities than ever before to apply, earn recognition and win awards for their projects:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.biotechinstitute.org\/go.cfm?do=Page.View&amp;pid=86\">Global Healthcare Challenge\u00a0<\/a>in medical biotechnology<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.biotechinstitute.org\/go.cfm?do=Page.View&amp;pid=87\">Global Sustainability Challenge\u00a0<\/a>in agricultural biotechnology<\/li>\n<li>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.biotechinstitute.org\/go.cfm?do=Page.View&amp;pid=64\">Global Environment Challenge\u00a0<\/a>in industrial\/environmental biotechnology<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Illinois BioGENEius Challenge DEADLINE \u2013\u00a0Submit posters by\u00a0<strong>5 PM March 30, 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>HOW CAN YOUR BIOGENEIUS PARTICIPATE?<\/p>\n<p>STUDENT ELIGIBILITY<\/p>\n<p>Must be a public or private school high school student; currently enrolled in biology or science-related courses (grades 9 to 12).<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.biotechinstitute.org\/go.cfm?do=Page.View&amp;pid=34\">APPLY NOW<\/a>\u2013\u00a0Fill out a brief on-line registration form, after which you can select the \u201capplication\u201d tab and submit your BioGENEius Application. Individual students\u00a0only\u00a0may submit\u00a0one\u00a0project for this competition.<\/li>\n<li>CREATE A POSTER \u2013\u00a0Follow these instructions to create your\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.biotechinstitute.org\/go.cfm?do=Page.View&amp;pid=35\">poster<\/a>. Please review and follow the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.biotechinstitute.org\/go.cfm?do=Page.View&amp;pid=62\">Rules and Guidelines<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>SUBMIT YOUR POSTER\u00a0\u2013 Upload your poster (PDF Format) during the application process. Be sure to include your last name and school name in the file name. (e.g., Smith &#8211; ABC High School.pdf). Don\u2019t forget to select one of the three new challenge tracks!<\/li>\n<li>AUTHORIZATION FORMS\u00a0\u2013 Download and complete the authorization forms during the application process.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>CONTEST RULES \u2013\u00a0 The judging will take place April 11, 2018 between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM. This year\u2019s contest will be hosted by Horizon Pharma, Inc. a biopharmaceutical company focused on addressing patients\u2019 unmet needs. Contestants will give 10-minute presentations on their posters to judges at Horizon, located at 150 S Saunders Road, Lake Forest, IL 60045. Students should plan to arrive to set up posters by 8:30 AM. Lunch will be provided<\/p>\n<p>JUDGES &amp; JUDGING CRITERIA\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Please review the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.biotechinstitute.org\/go.cfm?do=Page.View&amp;pid=36\">Judging Criteria<\/a>. This will assist you in preparing a competitive poster.<\/p>\n<p>WINNERS\u00a0\u2013 EDUCATE Center judges will select 1 winner to compete in the International competition. The winners will be notified and acknowledged during the IndEx event and will receive an all-expense-paid trip to the International competition.<\/p>\n<p>The Illinois finalist will present their research posters at the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.biotechinstitute.org\/go.cfm?do=Page.View&amp;pid=32\">International BioGENEius Challenge<\/a>\u00a0held in Boston, MA June 4-7, 2018.
