{"id":6329,"date":"2021-01-07T07:43:11","date_gmt":"2021-01-07T13:43:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ibio.org\/?p=6329"},"modified":"2021-01-07T07:43:11","modified_gmt":"2021-01-07T13:43:11","slug":"what-you-need-to-know-illinois-expanded-covid-19-vaccine-distribution-plan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ibio.org\/what-you-need-to-know-illinois-expanded-covid-19-vaccine-distribution-plan\/","title":{"rendered":"What you need to know: Illinois Expanded COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Plan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Building on guidance by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention&#8217;s (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), Governor JB Pritzker announced guidelines for the next stage of COVID-19 vaccine distribution across Illinois \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www2.illinois.gov\/IISNews\/22614-Phases_1A_and_1B_of_Vaccine_Distribution_in_Illinois.pdf\">Phase 1B<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Phase 1B will begin when Phase 1A is substantially complete. It will include all Illinois residents aged 65 and older and &#8220;frontline essential workers,&#8221; as outlined by ACIP:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">first responders (e.g., firefighters and police officers)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">corrections officers<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">food and agricultural workers<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">U.S. Postal Service workers<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">manufacturing workers<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">grocery store workers<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">public transit workers<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">and those who work in the education sector (teachers and support staff members) as well as child care workers<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">All in all, Phase 1B totals approximately\u00a01.3 million people who qualify as \u201cfrontline essential workers\u201d and 1.9 million adults age 65 and over, totaling 3.2 million eligible Illinoisans.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">As the state enters Phase 1B, the government will be utilizing every available resource at the state&#8217;s disposal to ensure that as many Illinoisans as possible can receive the vaccine as quickly as possible.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Large manufacturers interested in self-administring the vaccine to their 1B eligible employees should register with the Illinois Comprehensive Automated Immunization Registry Exchange.
