The annual competition brings together young innovators to present their research projects in biotechnology before an accomplished panel of established biotechnology researchers and academics. One Illinois winner will receive the opportunity to present his or her research to judges at the 2021 BIO International Digital Convention.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">2021 Illinois BioGENEius finalist research projects:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Evaluating the Effectiveness of Non-pharmaceutical Interventions on Mitigating the Spread of COVID-19: A Mathematical Model Based Approach<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Computer Board based Fundoscopy and Supervised Binary Convolutional Neural Network for Diagnosis of Fundus and Eyelid Diseases<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">A Comparison of Distinct Architectures of Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) For Modeling Solar Radiation For Renewable Energy Data<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">A Novel Macrophage Suppression Genetic Screen<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The Effectiveness of Cognitive-Behavioral Based Multidisciplinary Treatment (CBBMT) in Addressing Chronic Pain and Functional Impairment Caused by Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Machine Learning Model Predicts Anti-Cancer Drug Responses at Higher Accuracy than Current Methods<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The Effect of 2,3,7,8-Tetrachlorodibenzo-P-Dioxin (TCDD) on the Neurodevelopment, Birth Weight, and Birth Term of Infants Whose Parents Were Exposed in an Effort to Bring Awareness to High Exposure Areas<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Biological Processes of Various Strains of Maize over Varying Temperatures<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Starting on Monday, April 26th, the Illinois BioGENEius finalists will present their research during the morning session, 9am, of the Illinois Life Sciences Showcase.
